Southcentral Foundation runs behavioral health clinics this week in Kokhanok and Nilavena

Residents of Kokhanok and Iliamna can see a behavioral health clinician in their own village this week. Southcentral Foundation is running a behavioral health clinic in Kokhanok from July 27 through 30 and in Nilavena from July 27 through 31. Both event listings are marked "all day."

Neither notice lists a provider name or the services offered. Southcentral Foundation describes the program on its website as clinicians who "travel to rural clinics where SCF provides care." The program offers mental health intervention, ongoing individual counseling, and crisis intervention that includes risk assessment for suicidal and homicidal ideation. General weekday availability is 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Rural residents can book appointments through their local clinic or the Rural Behavioral Health office at 907-729-3028.

Kokhanok Community Health Center is one of six Federally Qualified Health Centers associated with the Nilavena Subregional Clinic. It serves all community members regardless of Indian Health Service status, on a sliding fee scale based on household income and size. Nilavena Regional Health Center sits in Iliamna.
