Sitka Assembly vacancy opens today; applications due July 8
Sitka residents have until noon July 8 to apply for an open Assembly seat. The City and Borough of Sitka Assembly is set to make the appointment at its July 14 regular meeting.
The vacancy took effect Tuesday after Assembly Member Tim Pike resigned. To be eligible, applicants must be a qualified municipal voter and must have lived in Sitka for at least one year. Required materials include a letter of interest, a Certificate of Applicant Qualifications, and a Financial Disclosure Statement, all submitted to the Municipal Clerk's Office. The appointed member will serve until the October 6 election.
Pike was recognized at the June 23 Assembly meeting, where Mayor Steven Eisenbeisz presented him with a Service Award for his work on the Assembly from 2022 to 2026.

The October 6 election will include seats for Mayor, Assembly, and School Board. Residents considering a run can pick up candidate packets from the Clerk's Office beginning July 20. Election deadlines and candidate resources will be posted to the city's Election Information page as they become available.
