Railbelt power grid technical group to meet April 29

A technical subcommittee of the Railbelt Transmission Organization will meet April 29 at 8:00 a.m. to discuss Alaska's power grid operations.

The meeting will be held by teleconference through Microsoft Teams. The Alaska Energy Authority is hosting the virtual session from its Anchorage office at 813 West Northern Lights Boulevard.

Under the organization's bylaws, subcommittee meetings are not open to the public. The technical subcommittee can only advise or make recommendations to the Railbelt Transmission Organization's Governance Committee. It has no authority to establish policies or make decisions.

The Railbelt Transmission Organization coordinates electric transmission across southcentral Alaska, from Fairbanks to the Kenai Peninsula. The technical subcommittee reviews operational and engineering matters related to the grid.

Governance Committee meetings, which do make policy decisions, are open to the public under the organization's bylaws.
