Power outage closes Anchorage state offices at 4001 Ingra St. at 1 p.m. Thursday

A power outage Thursday forced the early closure of all state offices in the University Center at 4001 Ingra Street in Anchorage at 1 p.m., cutting off in-person access to public services for the rest of the day. The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities announced the closure.

The Division of Public Assistance office at that address normally offers in-person services from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with interviews ending at 3 p.m. Residents who need help can reach the statewide Virtual Contact Center at 800-478-7778, open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for status checks and general inquiries.

State employees who can telework are directed to continue working unless a supervisor approves otherwise. Workers in public safety, corrections, and 24-hour operations are required to stay on duty unless on approved leave. The department directed employees to check alaska.gov for updates.
