Alaska Mental Health Trust Audit and Risk Committee may enter executive session July 29

The Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority's Audit and Risk Committee meets Wednesday, July 29, at 2 p.m. at 3745 Community Park Loop in Anchorage, with two items that may move into executive session: a legislative audit update and a staffing discussion. The closed session is cited under the Alaska Open Meetings Act, AS 44.62.310(c). The meeting agenda and remote participation instructions are available on the Trust website.

The Trust manages more than $858 million and approximately one million acres of land for Alaskans living with mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, chronic alcoholism, Alzheimer's disease and related dementia, and traumatic brain injury. It distributes more than $25 million in grants annually without drawing on state general fund dollars, including $7.2 million awarded to 21 organizations in the second quarter of fiscal year 2026 for crisis stabilization, prevention, and workforce development.

The meeting notice does not describe what the audit covers or when results will be public. A prior legislative audit finalized June 5, 2018, confirmed investment and governance concerns and prompted significant changes. The Trust said at the time: "The trust exists for the beneficiaries, not as a stand-alone real estate venture."
