Juneau mill rate cap petition clears signature threshold, review underway

Juneau petitioners submitted 2,986 initial signatures on June 17 for the proposed Mill Rate Cap Change Charter Amendment Petition. Under the City and Borough of Juneau Charter, 2,566 certified signatures are required for the petition to be certified. Clerk's Office staff are now verifying signatures and reviewing petition booklets to determine whether the petition meets the certification requirements.

If the petition clears review, the measure would go before voters in a future municipal election. The petition proposes a Mill Rate Cap Change Charter Amendment; the Municipal Clerk's Office is currently reviewing the submitted booklets to assess whether it qualifies for the ballot.
