Juneau Assembly Fills 11 Seats on Airport, Docks, Eagle Crest Boards

The City and Borough of Juneau Assembly approved 11 appointments to three municipal boards at a June 24 special meeting, staffing the bodies that oversee the airport, docks and harbors, and Eagle Crest ski area.

Paul Kelly, who chairs the Human Resources Committee, brought the appointments forward from a committee meeting held the same evening. Five people were appointed to the Airport Board, three to the Docks and Harbors Board, and three to the Eagle Crest Board, all without objection. "Seeing none, those appointments are made," Kelly said after the Airport Board slate.

The Airport Board is a seven-member body appointed by the Assembly under city code, with members serving without compensation in staggered three-year terms. The board oversees airport maintenance and operations, while fiscal policies and administrative matters are handled by the Airport Manager. The Assembly appointed David Epstein and Mike Newell to terms ending in 2029, Jerry Godkin to a term ending in 2027, Jordan Kessler to a term ending in 2028, and Nolan Davis as the tenant liaison to a term ending in 2027.

Three seats on the Docks and Harbors Board went to Tyler Emerson, Shem Suter, and Steve Fox, all to terms ending in 2029.

For the Eagle Crest ski area board, Kevin Krein and Sandy Hussain were appointed to terms ending in 2029, and Sean O'Neill was appointed to a term ending in 2026.

Following the appointments, Kelly noted that the Downtown Business Association had indicated it would be reaching out to the city or the Assembly about how to handle partial funding for the ambassador program, specifically whether the funding would be split across calendar years or applied only to the remainder of the current year.
