Homer sets storm drainage levy at 1 mil for Ocean Drive Loop district

Property owners inside Homer's Ocean Drive Loop Special Service District will continue paying a 1-mil drainage levy on top of the city's general property tax. The Homer City Council approved the district's 2026 rate, and the resolution took effect May 26.

The district levy stacks on top of the citywide 4.5-mil general rate the council adopted the same night. The resolution states the district funds maintenance and improvement of the storm drainage system serving the Ocean Drive Loop area.

The 1-mil rate has been in place since Resolution 22-050 reduced it following a stormwater study. A council memorandum cited continued capital and maintenance needs as the reason to hold the rate steady rather than reduce it further in 2026.
