GVEA seats Messier and Wight after board certifies 2026 election

Dave Messier and Philip Wight now hold seats on the Golden Valley Electric Association board after directors certified the cooperative's 2026 election results at a June 23 regular meeting in Fairbanks.

The two newly seated directors will help shape electricity rates, power supply decisions, and cooperative policy for GVEA member-owners across Interior Alaska. The board certified results for Districts 1, 2, and 3 after the election committee tallied ballots on June 11. Directors also certified bylaw amendments at the same meeting.

GVEA's official election materials identify Messier and Wight as the winners seated June 23. Available source materials do not identify a separately named winner for District 3, and GVEA's recap describes no dispute, challenge, or irregularity in the results.

Both directors faced their first operational vote the same day they were seated. The board approved a fuel supply contract amendment at the June 23 meeting.
