Fortymile placer mine application draws June 26 comment deadline

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources received a Multi-Agency Application for Permits to Mine in Alaska for mechanical placer mining on Uhler Creek in the Fortymile Mining District. The applicants, Gold Jug Mining & Restoration and Dean Race, are seeking authorization from the date of issuance through December 31, 2028.

DNR set a public comment deadline of June 26, 2026 at 5 p.m. AST for the application, identified as APMA 20242176. The notice invites nearby land users, downstream water users, and mining-district residents to submit written input before the state decides whether to approve the permit.

This is an application notice only and does not mean the permit has been approved. DNR is reviewing the proposal under 11 AAC 86.800 for mechanical placer mining and reclamation approval on state lands.
