Federal court clerk's office in Juneau closed Wednesday over staffing

The federal court clerk's office in Juneau is closed Wednesday, July 29, because of staffing shortages. The court says people with questions or concerns should contact its Anchorage office instead. The United States District Court for the District of Alaska posted the notice.

"The Juneau Clerks Office will be closed Wednesday July 29th, 2026, due to staffing shortages," the court said. It directed the public to its Anchorage office at 1-866-243-3814 toll-free or 907-677-6100.

The notice applies to the Juneau Clerk's Office. It does not announce a closure of the courthouse itself, and it does not establish that hearings or other court operations are closed.

Juneau is one of the district's remaining staffed offices. The district's Ketchikan office closed Oct. 1, 2021, leaving Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau as the staffed federal court locations in Alaska.

This is not the first such closure. Alaska News previously covered Juneau clerk's office closures on June 12 and June 15, and the court posted a similar notice for July 15.

The notice does not say whether hearings or filings are affected.
