Fairbanks welfare check leads to drug charges, warrant request

Alaska State Troopers are seeking an arrest warrant after a welfare check at the Chena Hot Springs Gas Station in Fairbanks on May 20 led to a misdemeanor drug investigation.

Troopers made contact with John Raymond Jr., 35, of Fairbanks. What they observed on scene was enough to open a formal investigation. Substances were seized and later confirmed by the Alaska Crime Lab.

Troopers forwarded a charge of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree to the District Attorney's Office along with a request for an arrest warrant. The case is documented under case number AK26045531. As of Thursday, no arrest had been confirmed. Raymond is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
