Anchorage Assembly Public Hearing on Enlighten Gardens Marijuana Cultivation SLUP Modification
📍 Anchorage Assembly Chambers, Anchorage, Alaska
About this event
The Anchorage Planning Department has issued a staff analysis recommending approval for a major modification to the special land use permit (SLUP) held by Enlighten Gardens, LLC, a marijuana cultivation facility located at 524 E. 48th Avenue. The proposed modification involves increasing the licensed premises by 2,700 square feet. The facility, which has been operational since 2021, will maintain its existing building footprint and site plan.
Because the proposed expansion exceeds 20% of the original licensed premises, the modification requires approval from the Anchorage Assembly under Anchorage Municipal Code 21.03.105C.9.c. The Planning Department confirmed that the facility has remained in compliance with municipal codes since its original approval in 2020 via Assembly Resolution 2020-165.
Reviewing agencies, including the Traffic Engineering Department and Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility (AWWU), have submitted comments of non-objection. The Planning Department mailed 154 public hearing notices on June 26, 2026, and reported no public comments received as of the date of the analysis. The recommendation for approval is subject to seven conditions, including requirements for odor control, municipal inspection access, and coordination with Chugach Electric Association regarding power load upgrades.
