DOT&PF proposes lease extension for Eskimos, Inc. at Utqiaġvik airport

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities proposed to extend a fuel storage and sales lease at Wiley Post–Will Rogers Memorial Airport in Utqiaġvik to Eskimos, Inc. for five more years at $7,501.26 annually, without competitive bidding. The extension, for Lease ADA-72388, was proposed to expire June 23, 2026. The public notice carried a June 19, 2021 comment deadline, and the notice was originally issued May 20, 2021.

The parcel covers approximately 40,000 square feet at Lot 1, Block 700 and includes a small storage building, fuel storage tanks, and fuel sales operations. Authorized uses also include aeronautical maintenance.

DOT&PF processed the extension under AS 02.15.090(c). "This is an application filed under AS 02.15.090(c), which allows the Department to grant the proposed lease term extension without competition," the public notice states. Under that provision, the department may extend the lease without opening it to competing applicants. Written comments were due by 4:30 p.m. on June 19, 2021, after which the department would determine whether to extend the lease.
