DNR proposes Homer parcel transfer to UA; comment deadline July 14

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources is proposing a noncompetitive sale that would transfer a Homer parcel to University of Alaska Land Management. Residents have until July 14 to comment before DNR issues a binding decision. The transfer is proposed, not final.

The parcel is Lot 139, Bay View Subdivision, Plat No. 53-839, at 1432 Bay Avenue, filed under disposal file ADL 234752. DNR filed the public notice June 11, 2026. The available record shows no opposition, competing bids, or community controversy at this stage.

Only those who submit timely written comments are eligible to appeal the Final Finding and Decision. Written comments must reach Kathryn Young at DNR by 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2026, by mail, fax, or email. Those requiring special accommodations must contact DNR by 4 p.m. on July 7.

University of Alaska Land Management manages and generates revenue through development of the university's real property in support of its educational mission, according to the office's own description. Alaska Statute Title 38 authorizes the state to dispose of land by competitive or noncompetitive methods, including direct disposals to public entities.
