Darren Morgan Deacon files for Alaska State Senate District S
Darren Morgan Deacon, a lifelong Alaskan who previously served as tribal chief of the Native Village of Kalskag, is running for Alaska State Senate on a platform supporting full Permanent Fund dividends and defending subsistence rights.
Deacon, 47, filed as a Republican candidate for Senate District S. He works as a communications installer and serves on a Native corporation board of directors. He has lived in Aniak, Grayling, and Upper and Lower Kalskag.
"I also will fight to defend our fishing and hunting rights," Deacon said in his candidate statement. "We deserve to feed our families and fill our freezers."
In his statement, Deacon identified himself as the son of Fred and Betty Turner and Rodney Deacon from Kalskag, and grandson of the late George Morgan Sr., Teresa Nook, Mary Takumjanak, Henry and Dolly Deacon, and Harry and Lucy Turner. "I humbly ask for your vote," he said.
An earlier article on the 2026 filing deadline established the final candidate field for the race.
Deacon is a graduate of George Morgan Sr. High School and is currently working on a pilot's license. His interests include fishing, moose hunting, trapping, and gathering firewood.
