BSNC Welcomes 16 Summer Interns, Including Multiple Returners
Bering Straits Native Corporation placed 16 shareholder and descendant interns across its departments and subsidiaries this summer, with several returning participants among a cohort that stretches from Anchorage to Atlanta.
Shane Angnaboogok is back for his fourth consecutive summer, now placed at Alaska Industrial Hardware in Wasilla while pursuing a business degree at UAF. "I hope to continue building my professional experience, strengthen my leadership and communication skills, and learn more about the different opportunities within BSNC," he said.
Isaiah Nayokpuk, placed in Human Resources, is in his third year. "This will be my third internship with BSNC, and I look forward to continuing to grow my understanding of business operations and learning more about how Native Corporations serve their communities," Nayokpuk said.
Shana Atchak, placed at Alaska Industrial Hardware in Wasilla, completed an internship last summer with Environmental Management Inc. Joshua Ivanoff interned in the accounting department last summer and returns to the same placement this year. Ashley Maxwell previously interned in the Media and Communications department and returns this summer in Business Development.
The cohort spans institutions from UAF and UAA to Montana State and the Savannah College of Art and Design. Several interns named community return as an explicit goal. Jolene Okleasik, placed in Lands in Nome, was direct: "My goal is to become educated in Business Management and work in our region; we need more homegrown management."
BSNC described the group as an outstanding cohort of 16 interns who bring energy, curiosity, and dedication, gaining experience across the corporation's departments and companies.
