Alaska Sustainable Salmon Fund opens 2026 grant cycle with $3-10 million

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is accepting grant proposals for salmon research and conservation projects through June 24, 2026. The Alaska Sustainable Salmon Fund expects to award between $3 million and $10 million in its 2026 funding cycle.

Proposals must be submitted through the fund's website at www.akssf.org/cfp by noon Alaska Daylight Time on June 24. All projects require a 35 percent nonfederal match and must be completed by November 30, 2029.

Applicants who submit proposals by noon on June 10 can receive a courtesy administrative review to identify any issues before the final deadline. The fund will notify applicants of funding decisions by late December 2026.

Projects must directly relate to one or more of the fund's objectives, which are available on the website. The Alaska Sustainable Salmon Fund supports research and conservation work that benefits salmon populations across the state.

The fund will host a webinar on May 13 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. to explain the proposal development and project selection processes. All required forms, templates, and reference documents are available on the fund's website.
