Three Bears seeks water permit for Cooper Landing gas station complex

TBA Properties LLC applied for a permit to draw 7,500 gallons of water per day from a well in Cooper Landing to supply a new Three Bears gas station, convenience store, laundromat and campground. The state Department of Natural Resources is accepting public comments through June 1.

The company filed the application February 13 for year-round commercial use at 21949 Sterling Highway. The water would come from a 54-foot well on Tract B1 of the Quartz Creek Subdivision.

The proposed development would add significant commercial water demand in an area heavily dependent on fishing and tourism traffic.

Anyone who believes the water appropriation would harm their rights or the public interest may file written objections with the state. Objections must include the person's name and address and facts showing how they would be adversely affected.
