State seeks public comment on Kenai water main easement by Jan. 8

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources is accepting public comments through January 8 on a proposed 25-year easement that would allow the City of Kenai to maintain a water main along the Kenai Spur Highway.

The city applied for a private non-exclusive easement over state land near milepost 7.5 of the Kenai Spur Highway. The easement would cover a strip of land 786 feet long and 50 feet wide along the northern boundary of the parcel. The city would use the easement to monitor, maintain, and repair an existing water main.

The state's Southcentral Regional Land Office received the application under case number ADL 234689. The easement, if approved, may differ from what the city requested.
