State proposes to extend Petersburg Airport parking lot permit

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is accepting public comments through May 23 on a proposal to extend a land use permit for parking lots at Petersburg Airport.

The permit covers four lots totaling about 12,437 square feet at the airport. Petersburg Airport Parking LLC currently holds the permit, which expires July 1, 2026. The state proposes extending it for five more years, through July 1, 2031.

The company operates short-term and overnight parking for airport users on the lots. Annual rent is $2,698.89.

Anyone can submit a competing application for the same land or file written comments by 4:30 p.m. on May 23. The department will review all submissions before deciding whether to extend the permit.

The department will notify only those who submit comments or competing applications of its decision. Submissions must include a return address.
