State education commission releases plan to reduce regulatory burdens

The Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education has released its plan to reduce regulatory burdens on students and education providers under a statewide reform initiative.

Administrative Order 360, signed by the governor, requires all state agencies to review their regulations and eliminate unnecessary requirements that burden Alaskans and businesses. The commission submitted its regulatory reform plan on April 17.

The initiative aims to improve the quality, transparency, and efficiency of state regulations to encourage business and economic growth. Each agency must review existing administrative regulations, guidance documents, and materials incorporated by reference.

The commission oversees student financial aid programs, college savings plans, and postsecondary education policy in Alaska. Its reform plan identifies which regulations the agency will keep, modify, or eliminate.

The full regulatory reform plan is available on the Alaska Online Public Notices website. The Department of Education and Early Development published the notice April 17.
