Railbelt power grid tariff group meets May 7 in closed session

A subcommittee working on electricity transmission rates for the Railbelt will meet May 7 at 2:00 p.m., but the public cannot attend.

The Tariff Subcommittee of the Railbelt Transmission Organization will hold the meeting by teleconference at the Alaska Energy Authority offices at 813 West Northern Lights Boulevard in Anchorage. The group advises the organization's Governance Committee on rates and charges for moving electricity across the grid that connects Fairbanks, Anchorage, and the Kenai Peninsula.

Under the organization's bylaws, subcommittee meetings are not open to the public. Only full Governance Committee meetings must allow public attendance. Subcommittees can make recommendations but cannot set policy or make final decisions.

The Railbelt Transmission Organization manages the electrical grid serving most of Alaska's population. The tariff subcommittee focuses on pricing structures for transmission services.
