Alaska DOC seeks pharmacist for Anchorage prison pharmacy

The Alaska Department of Corrections is accepting proposals from licensed pharmacists to provide services at its Anchorage pharmacy through June 4 at 2:00 p.m.

The Division of Health and Rehabilitation Services is contracting out pharmacist services rather than filling the position with a state employee. Proposals are due to procurement officer Benjamin Baker at [email protected].

Alaska News previously reported that the Department of Corrections has contracted out other healthcare services, including substance abuse treatment at facilities in Wasilla and Palmer, and medical waste hauling statewide.

The department operates a pharmacy in Anchorage that serves correctional facilities. Carla Hebert serves as Chief Pharmacist for the DOC Pharmacy. The department has been recruiting pharmacy technicians for the facility, with positions requiring Alaska licensure and starting pay between $23.45 and $29.57 per hour.

Vendors who download the request for proposals must register with Baker to receive amendments and be added to the vendor list. Failure to register may result in a bid being considered non-responsive.
