State seeks public input on gravel extraction near Mile 100 Taylor Highway

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is seeking public comment through April 24 on a proposal to extract 100,000 cubic yards of gravel from a material site near Mile 100 of the Taylor Highway, about 100 miles northeast of Tok.

The five-year permit would allow extraction, processing, and stockpiling of materials from a designated site north of the highway at approximately Latitude 64.1894 N by Longitude 141.3618 W. The Division of Mining, Land and Water is reviewing the application and wants information about potential land use conflicts or site-specific operating requirements.

The material site, designated as ADL 419708, covers the southeast quarter of Section 27, Township 8 South, Range 32, Fairbanks Meridian. DOT&PF submitted the application under state law governing material extraction from public lands.
