State seeks bids for $5M-$10M taxiway rebuild at Anchorage airport

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is accepting sealed bids through May 6, 2026, for a major reconstruction of Taxiway Q at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. Bids are due by 2:00 p.m. at 4111 Aviation Avenue in Anchorage.

The state-funded project will tear out and replace the pavement on Taxiway Q, one of the routes aircraft use to move between runways and terminals. Work includes removing old pavement, excavating and installing new subbase materials, pouring concrete and asphalt, upgrading airfield lighting, and restoring topsoil and vegetation. The engineer estimates the cost between $5 million and $10 million.

Contractors must complete the work by September 15, 2026. The tight timeline reflects the airport's need to minimize disruption during the busy summer travel season.

Companies interested in bidding can download plans, specifications, and bid packets at no charge from the state's online bidding service at https://www.bidx.com/ak/lettings. Bidders must register through the DOT&PF website or with the Central Region Plans Room, or their bids may be rejected. Paper copies of bidding documents are available for $100 per set from the Central Region Plans Room before 4:30 p.m. at 907-269-0408.
