State proposes to extend Homer Airport phone service lease for five years

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is accepting public comments through May 15 on a proposal to extend a land lease at Homer Airport for ACS Of The Northland, LLC.

The lease covers 986 square feet at Lot 3A1, Block 200A, where the company operates an electronic telephone switch that provides phone service to the airport and surrounding area. The extension would run for five years at an annual rent of $625.

The department filed the application under a state law that allows lease extensions without competitive bidding. The law applies when an existing tenant seeks to continue using land for the same purpose.

Written comments must be received by 4:30 p.m. on May 15, 2026. The department will review all comments before deciding whether to approve the extension. Only people who submit written comments will receive notification of the final decision.
