State Opens Applications for Snowtrail Grooming Grants May 19

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities will accept applications for snowtrail grooming grants from May 19 through June 5.

The Snowtrails Program reimburses up to 90 percent of eligible costs for grooming public snowtrails. Applicants must cover the remaining 10 percent. Nonprofit organizations, state agencies, local governments, and tribal governments can apply.

The department administers federal Recreational Trails Program funds through the Federal Highway Administration. The grants support maintenance of public snowtrails across Alaska.

Application materials will be posted at the department's Snow Trails website before the May 19 opening date. The department will accept applications through June 5.
