Railbelt power grid tariff subcommittee to meet April 23

A subcommittee advising the Railbelt Transmission Organization will meet April 23 at 2:00 PM to discuss tariff issues for the power grid connecting Fairbanks to the Kenai Peninsula.

The Tariff Subcommittee meeting will be held by teleconference through Microsoft Teams. The Alaska Energy Authority is hosting the connection from its Anchorage office at 813 West Northern Lights Boulevard.

The meeting is not open to the public. Under the RTO's bylaws, subcommittee meetings are closed because subcommittees can only advise or make recommendations to the Governance Committee. They cannot establish policies or make decisions on their own.

The RTO manages transmission of electricity across the Railbelt, the interconnected grid serving Anchorage, Fairbanks, the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, and the Kenai Peninsula. The organization's Governance Committee meetings are open to the public.

The notice was posted April 14 by the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development. The RTO's Governance Committee will consider any recommendations from the Tariff Subcommittee at future public meetings.
